Introduction

The role ensures the availability, security, and efficiency of IT services while supporting business growth through strategic technology initiatives. The IT Manager leads the IT team, manages IT projects, maintains business continuity, and ensures that all technology solutions align with the organisation's operational objectives.
Job description

IT Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and implement the company's IT strategy in line with business objectives.
  • Manage and mentor the IT team, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
  • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Prepare and manage the annual IT budget.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve business efficiency.
IT Infrastructure Management
  • Manage and maintain servers, networks, storage, and cloud infrastructure. 
  • Ensure high system availability and business continuity. 
  • Oversee installation, maintenance, and upgrades of hardware and software. 
  • Manage internet connectivity, firewalls, VPNs, and network security. 
  • Ensure optimal performance of all IT infrastructure.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies. 
  • Monitor and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities. 
  • Ensure endpoint protection and antivirus management. 
  • Manage backup solutions and disaster recovery planning. 
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments. 
  • Ensure compliance with data protection legislation and company security policies.
Systems Administration
 
  • Manage Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Ensure software licensing compliance. 
  • Manage user access controls and permissions. 
  • Support digital transformation initiatives.
 
IT Service Management
 
  • Ensure efficient IT helpdesk operations. 
  • Monitor service levels and IT performance metrics. 
  • Resolve complex technical issues escalated by the IT team. 
  • Develop Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and monitor performance. 
  • Ensure excellent internal customer service.
 
Project Management
 
  • Lead IT implementation and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate system upgrades and migrations. 
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers. 
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Vendor & Contract Management
 
  • Manage IT suppliers and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and software licensing agreements.
  • Monitor vendor performance against agreed service levels.
  • Evaluate new technology partners and solutions.
Compliance and Governance
  • Ensure compliance with POPIA, software licensing requirements, and internal IT governance policies. 
  • Maintain IT documentation and asset registers. 
  • Support internal and external audits. 
  • Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification (advantageous).
  • Minimum 5–8 years' experience in Information Technology.
  • At least 3 years' experience in an IT leadership or management role.
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, and cloud environments.
  • Experience managing IT budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Experience supporting ERP and business-critical systems.
